7" Split Review

EN PSYCHRO from Cyprus finally make it to vinyl!

After a great demo in 2012 I picked up on these guys and was excited to see their debut 7" hit the streets.
Not a household name just yet but you're sure to hear more from them in the near future as an LP is also on the way.

Production is great on this split with German crust punks KYFFPACK.

They make a good team on this split as both bands play political angry crust tinged hardcore.

Limited to 300 copies and the majority of those are gone already so pick one of these up while you can.

Demo Review - "Underground haul - Subterranea Cypria, a reportage from the Southern front"

Next up, the self-released demo CDr from

En Psychro (In Cold Blood). Politics and punk have always been inseparable bedfellows so it’s not surprising that the lyrical content revolves around the blatant corruption of politicians and religious authorities as well as the militaristic tensions along the Green line. The main ingredient of any good HC punk release worth its salt is anger - unadulterated paroxysmic release - and this humble little CDr has it in spades drawing influences from bands such as DRI, early Sepultura, Discharge as well as Greek legends, Olethrio Rigma. Good stuff.

Live Report at Diahroniki 29/4

Review from OEF

Formed in 2011 in Nicosia, Cyprus to play that classic blend of thrash, hardcore and toxic crust punk, EN PSYCHRO (meaning 'In Cold Blood') are fast, angry and set to kick your face in with their thick metallic riffs.
Releasing a demo in 2012 (download it for free from EN PSYCHRO bandcamp) that dealt with local politics, religion and the usual bullshit, EN PSYCHRO are passionately DIY and so their country may be Cyprus, but their true homeland is OBSCENE EXTREME 2013!!!

Review - World's Appreciated Kitsch

demo EP 2012

self-released

Εν Ψυχρώ (translated in english as In Cold Blood) is a new DIY hardcore / punk band based in Nicosia, Cyprus, and feat. individuals that are very active in their local scene, either by organizing gigs and running distros or being involved in politics. At least a couple of members of Εν Ψυχρώ were playing in Εντός Των Τειχών (Inside The Walls), that had released a great record back in 2008.

Their first demo is in CDR format, with a nice booklet including lyrics & translations, plus a short bio of the band concerning their political / DIY stance, and features 6 songs strongly influenced by the mid / late 90s greek hardcore scene and bands like Ναυτία (Nausea; the greek one) and Πανικός (Panic).

There's also a huge metallic touch that brings in my mind Sepultura, while some riffs could easily have been used by thrash / death metal bands.

Lyric wise, they focus strictly on social / political issues, like the Cyprian diplomatic problem, nuclear war, religion and an explosion that happened in a military base in Cyprus last year.

All in all, it's a nice demo, that all the fans of greek 90s hardcore will definitely love.

The scene in Cyprus is still in an 'embryonic stage', but the  lately a lot of actions are taking place, with Εν Ψυχρώ being one of the most active bands nowadays. Let's support 'em.
